How much Botox do you need?

How much Botox do you need?

There are very general guidelines, and they differ based on

- location of Botox injection

- female versus male patient

- how much facial expression and muscle movement you want after your injection.

Botox is measure in units. You need a certain number of units injected into an area to get the best result.

Although Botox is injected into many different areas, the classic areas are

- glabella, the area between your eyebrows. If you try to look angry, then you’ll see the up-and-down lines form

- the forehead. If you raise your eyebrows, you may see some furrows.

- the crows’ feet area. If you squint really hard, you may see more lines than you want!

Very generally, women need 15-30 units in the glabella, 15-30 units in the forehead, and 5-15 units in the crows’ feet area. These are very broad guidelines, and can be fine tuned in the office. You may need more or less, depending on what results you want, how much muscle strength you have now, and how much facial expression you want afterwards.

Women typically need less Botox than men for any given area. Men have stronger and larger facial muscles, so they need more Botox to get the same result as women.

Any individual needs more units injected into stronger muscles, such as the glabella/ the area between the eyebrows. The average patient needs fewer “units” in the forehead and crow’s feet areas.

If you want to look slightly more natural, you need fewer units. If you want the area have less movement, then you will need more Botox units.

FYI, 1 vial of Botox has 100 units. Perhaps a great Trivial Pursuit question?

What Anti-Aging Treatment Moisturizer Does To Your Skin

What Anti-Aging Treatment Moisturizer Does To Your Skin

People continue to look for the best skin moisturizer. It seems they never find the perfect one that can match the need of their skin. What is a skin moisturizer anyway? How does it affect the skin that makes people continue searching the best moisturizer? For anyone who hasn’t found the right moisturizer for their skin type, these are probably questions they continue to seek real answers for. Here are some information you might be interested learning in order to understand why you need moisturizer as your anti-aging treatment product to keep your skin looking and feeling supple, young, and radiant as always.

The skin is prone to damaging elements.

The skin is prone to drying because of many damaging factors you can get outside, such as sun light, weather changes, wind, friction, toxins, and many other elements. These elements not only damage the skin outer layer but make it dry, cracked, and develop fine lines. The inner layer of the skin needs proper hydration in order that the outer layer maintains suppleness it needs to look young and refreshed. A good moisturizer will help protect the skin from the damaging elements while it lubricates the outer part to develop premature aging signs.

Your skin has natural lubricants, in the form of sebum and water. Sebum is the fat being produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands, which are found in your pores or hair follicles. Tiny, light hairs are found in these follicles where behind each hair is found sebaceous gland. A good moisturizer that you should be looking must be similar to sebum’s molecular level. With this idea, it should be easy for you to spot a good moisturizer among the bad ones.

So, what is a good skin moisturizer?

A good skin moisturizer should contain oils similar to your skin’s sebum. When applied this should be quickly absorbed by your skin without the greasy feeling at all. Because it is readily absorbed, it instantly protects your skin outer layers while it hydrates its inner layers. And the best part is? It leaves no clogging to your skin’s pores.

What is a bad moisturizer?

A moisturizer that you shouldn’t be looking for is products that consist of any petroleum based oils, such as mineral oil, petrolatum, and paraffin. These are no way similar to your skin’s sebum. If you use this kind, it won’t give your skin the benefits it needs. Instead, it will clog up your pores, leave greasy feeling, and can lead to blemishes. If used for a long time, it can change your skin’s pH balance, thereby making it susceptible to infections.

How moisturizer should be applied?

Using a good moisturizer cream or lotion is a fundamental part of anti-aging skin care treatment. It should be applied daily and will be best if done after your cleansing or showering. If you use skin moisturizers which contain protein complexes and antioxidants, this is even better. Scientific studies suggested that antioxidants are best agents to protect your skin from free radicals, which are provided by different damaging elements.

A moisturizer with lots of protein complexes and antioxidants should help in neutralizing these free radicals, therefore avoiding your skin’s fibers and cells from getting damaged. So, when it comes to choosing the best anti-aging treatment moisturizer product, you should remember looking for one that does not only contain oils similar to sebum but one that has different antioxidants, proteins, and antibacterial agent.

Seven Healthy Anti-Aging Care and Treatment Quick Tips

Do you find aging as the worst time of your life? Most men and women who are conscious about how they look and feel get so worried as they start nearing 30′s and even more so, in the 40′s. However, you don’t have to look at it that way if you know how to look after your physical body and your mind. It may seem difficult to some, but in reality, it is a lot simpler to take care of your body. You just need to stick to a routine that will make you feel refreshed and great all the time. In this connection, check the following seven tips. Doing these things as early as you can, the better chances you will get of you having a great skin.

1.) Definitely the first natural anti-aging care treatment, drinking lots of water per day helps make your skin hydrated while your body cleaned and flushed with toxins. Hydrated skin makes you look younger as it tends to look plumper and clearer. So don’t forget to count eight glasses of water intake to achieve that youthful and healthy glowing skin.

2.) Second most important anti-aging skin care treatment, eating a healthy and good balanced diet food is a secret to keeping your skin tissues intact and supple. Food diet must include all important food groups. Lots of fibers, fresh fruits, and green leafy vegetables are a staple to a diet if you want your skin to keep looking and feeling younger everyday. They contain minerals and vitamins which are a must because they help repair damaged skin tissues and cells and maintain young skin. You must also cut out fatty, oily, and salty foods from your diet. They easily ruin the objective of having healthy diet.

3.) Another vital component to having that perfectly glowing skin and feeling stronger body, a regular exercise should be done at least thrice a week. It will make you sweat out; thus, releasing the toxins in your body. It work wonders too in keeping your skin cleared and refreshed. Plus, it makes you feel healthier and stronger.

4.) Keep your skin in good shape and in condition by avoiding the sun rays and UV radiations. Sun is the number one factor that can damage the skin. It can even give you premature wrinkles and lines. If you cannot help but stay out, you must at least use a good sun screen lotion or sun block to protect your skin from the damaging rays. It is nice to sport a tan; however, if you are not careful, it can go to a worst scenario as having skin cancer.

5.) Stop smoking and don’t drink beyond the limit intake. Smoking is the best way to damage your skin. It contains chemicals that makes your skin age faster. Excessive drinking alcohol is as well harmful. It makes your liver full and thus no longer capable of flushing your body with toxins.

6.) Use anti-aging treatment products that contain antioxidants and ingredients such as retinol, Vitamin C, A, and ceramides. They will work wonders in repairing your slightly damaged skin.

7.) And lastly, keep a positive outlook in life. Live a calm, stress-free life. Life is sometimes difficult, but if your body is constantly stressed out, it releases chemicals that can make you physically or mentally ill. The lack of sleep and lack of good exercise is never good to your body and skin. It’s not only the skin that gets affected but your hair as well. And they can really make you look years older than what really your age is.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

There are several doubts about the safety and effectiveness of teeth whitening. However, different studies have proved that the process is safe and effective. The enamel of the teeth is not affected if the whitening agent contains only ten percent carbamide peroxide.

Though a higher percentage of carbamide and hydrogen peroxide may prove harmful for the teeth enamel, but the fluoride content of the formula removes the side effects to a considerable extent. Dentists also prescribe fluoride gels to those using a higher concentration of these whitening materials which help as a protective cover.

In case of acute sensitivity or gum irritation, one may discontinue the usage of the teeth whitening agents on a regular basis and use it on alternate days. The agent may also be applied for lesser time. The in-office, at-home or over-the-counter teeth whitening agents may result in tooth sensitivity and irritation of the gums.

Whereas prescription fluoride is a good remedy for sensitivity, over-the-counter products like Orajel treat gum irritation well. Some dentists complain of the loss of patients as well as revenues as they hold the large companies with a vast array of over-the-counter teeth whitening products responsible as being the root cause for this loss.

On the contrary, these products help create awareness and enthusiasm among the masses about tooth whitening and cosmetic dentistry and in turn this helps the dentists. In fact one of the ads suggests consulting with the dentist and taking their opinion about the cosmetic dental options and it gives a brief description about these teeth whitening procedures.

Safety With Teeth Whitening Products

Before you decide to opt for a teeth whitening procedure you must be aware that only a few bleaching products meet ADA guidelines for safety and effectiveness.

This is because only a few product manufacturers seek the ADA’s Seal of Acceptance. This is a voluntary program that requires a lot of expense and time so most manufacturers of teeth whitening products may choose to skip the procedure all together. However, you must realize that a teeth whitening product without the ADA’s Seal of Acceptance might also be safe to use. You can be assured, however, that products that do carry the seal are certified to be safe.

Teeth whitening products that are dispensed through dentist’s offices are usually ADA compliant. Several whitening toothpastes that are freely available over-the-counter
ADA compliant but other over-the-counter teeth whitening products are not certified by the ADA. To differentiate between the two types, check online websites and ask your local chemist for advice. Teeth whitening kits are not considered to be drugs and therefore they are not monitored by the ADA. Consider the following factors when selecting a teeth whitening kit.

- Select a teeth whitening kit that allows you to mold the mouthpiece somewhat. These are more comfortable than others

- Ask the opinion of others who have already tried the teeth whitening kit you are planning to buy

- If you see that the color of your gums starts changing or if you detect an increase in teeth sensitivity, stop using the kit immediately. Then, consult a professional dentist.
